01Who this is for

If you’re the owner, the salesperson, the dispatcher, the lead foreman, and the marketing department — this was built for you.

Most outside help doesn’t know a skid-steer from a stump grinder. We’ve worked inside trades businesses for over 20 years. Tessera is for the operator who knows their craft cold but needs a sharper business behind it — and a brand to match.

02What we do

Build the business.
Build the brand.

Two halves of the same business. We install the systems that keep it running, and we design the brand that makes it stand out. Most consultants do one. Few do both.

Business systems
— The engagement
  1. i

    Operations & Systems

Repeatable workflows for estimating, scheduling, and crew accountability — so the business runs without you in the cab of every truck.

  2. ii

    Pricing & Sales

Cost-based pricing, a real sales process, and the close cadence that stops leaving margin on the table.

  3. iii

    Hiring & Crew Development

A bench of foremen and crews who stay — plus a hiring funnel that doesn’t depend on a Craigslist post in spring.

  4. iv

    Growth Roadmap

A 12-month plan with the three or four moves that actually compound — sequenced so you don’t scale into a cash-flow hole.

Brand & marketing
— Bolt-on projects
  1. v

    Brand & Identity

A logo, palette, and type system that signals “professional” before the first call.

  2. vi

    Website Design & Build

Sites that look the part, load fast, and turn visitors into estimate requests.

  3. vii

    Local Visibility & GMB

Show up when neighbors are looking. GMB, reviews, and local SEO that fills the schedule.

  4. viii

    Signage & Print

Truck wraps, yard signs, business cards, and crew apparel — designed to match your brand, not pulled off a template.

Engagements start with business systems. Brand & marketing projects can bolt on after — or run on their own. Talk through a fit →

A trades business is built the way a patio is built — one piece at a time, set straight, on a base that holds. Tessera is Latin for the small tile in a mosaic. Each piece is small. The picture is the point.

03About the work

Built inside the trades,
not next to them.

Most business coaches read about the trades. We’ve spent our careers running, scaling, and rebuilding home-services companies — on the truck, in the office, and at the kitchen-table conversations where a business actually changes.

Brandon, founder of Tessera Build Co.

Tessera started where most owner-operators do — installing, estimating, and learning the business by getting it wrong, then fixing it.

Across 20+ years in home services, we’ve worn nearly every hat in a trades company: ground crew, foreman, salesperson, operations lead, and ultimately the people responsible for whether the business made money on Friday. We’ve rebuilt pricing models on Sunday nights when the numbers stopped working — and rebuilt brands on Monday mornings when the old logo, the old website, and the old truck wrap stopped doing the business justice.

Tessera Build Co. is the help we wish had existed back when we were running our first crews. Practical. Trades-native. Built for owner-operators who don’t have time for theory and don’t want a generic playbook.

The work is hands-on. We meet weekly. We get into your numbers, your schedule, your job costs, and your hiring funnel — and into your brand, your website, and how the business looks to the customer at the curb. We fix what’s broken, install what’s missing, and leave you with a business that runs and looks the part.

04How we work

A focused engagement —
not a content drip.

Engagements start with a discovery call. From there, a paid diagnostic — usually a 90-day install — followed by an optional retainer or bolt-on projects (brand, website, GMB, signage, or other focused work).

01

Discovery call

It starts with the two-minute scorecard, then the fit questionnaire — so by the time we talk, we already know the business. The call itself is 30 minutes on the bottleneck and whether we’re a fit. No pitch deck.

scorecard → questionnaire → call · free

02

Diagnostic

Two weeks inside your business — the numbers, the trucks, the pipeline — ending in a written assessment with a prioritized action plan. Yours to keep either way.

2 weeks · paid engagement
03

Install

90 days of hands-on work. Weekly working sessions. Real artifacts — pricing models, hiring funnels, dayboards — installed in your business, not your inbox.

90 days · weekly cadence
04

Retainer & Bolt-Ons

Two ways to keep working together: a monthly retainer to hold the metrics and tackle what’s next, or bolt-on projects scoped to a single need — a brand rebuild, a new website, local visibility & GMB, signage & wraps, a pricing rebuild, a hiring sprint, or a software rollout. No long contracts.

What you walk away with

A business that runs — and looks the part.

When the work is done, you stop being the bottleneck — and the business stops looking like a side hustle. Systems that run, numbers you can trust, and a brand that the customer at the curb takes seriously. The work is concrete. You leave with the artifacts, not a recording of the artifacts.

  • 01
A weekly operating rhythm — dayboards, dispatch, and a real KPI dashboard for every crew.
  • 02
A pricing model and sales process from first call to signed deposit, tied to your real costs — not your gut.
  • 03
A hiring funnel with role scorecards, pay structure, and channels that work in trades.
  • 04
A 12-month roadmap sequenced so growth doesn’t cost you cash, sleep, or your weekends.
  • 05
A brand system — logo, palette, and typography — that signals “professional” before the first call.
  • 06
A website that looks the part, loads fast, and turns visitors into estimate requests.
  • 07
A local visibility engine — GMB, reviews, and local SEO — that fills the schedule.
  • 08
A signage suite — truck wraps, yard signs, cards, and apparel — designed to match the brand.
The Tessera system

The tools we use to get you there.

The change we’re after is in your business — your margin, your week, your bench. Not in a piece of software. But the work runs on tools, and ours are built for the trades — three of them, in the order you’d use them. Tap any one to see it.

I Win the workFORGE

Good / better / best proposals that close — priced to protect your margin, built in minutes, and accepted online with a deposit. The professional quote that wins the job before a competitor calls back.

FORGE — Tessera’s proposal tool showing tiered good/better/best pricing and a clear scope of work for a client quote
Proposals · Pricing · Sales process
II Run the workATLAS

Every project’s budget, draws, schedule, and client updates in one place — so the job runs to the plan, not to memory, and the homeowner always knows where things stand.

ATLAS — Tessera’s project dashboard showing a live construction budget, draw timeline, and schedule for an active job
Projects · Budgets · Schedules · Client report
III Measure the workOBSERVATORY

The handful of numbers that tell you how the business is really doing — health score, margin, close rate, cash — measured against your own targets, updated as the work flows through Forge and Atlas.

OBSERVATORY — Tessera’s business intelligence view showing a health score, revenue, margin, and close-rate KPIs against targets
KPIs · Profitability · Business intelligence

Three tools, built to work as one. They’re how the work gets done — but they’re the means, not the point. The point is a business that runs better, and runs more without you.

05Frequently asked

Questions worth asking.

Will you actually understand my business, or is this generic outside help?
We’ve worked inside home-services and trades businesses — not adjacent to them. We’ve estimated jobs, managed crews, owned a P&L, and lost sleep over a Monday schedule. The work is trades-native and tactical. If you sell paver patios, we know what a square foot should cost. If you run a service truck, we know what your gross margin needs to look like to survive a slow February.
How is this different from a coaching program?
Tradesman to tradesman — that’s the difference. No cohorts, no Slack channels, no recorded modules from someone who’s never swung a hammer. Engagements are 1:1, scoped to your business, and result in real artifacts — pricing models, hiring funnels, dashboards — installed in your operation. You’re paying for installation, not information.
What does it cost?
The diagnostic is a fixed-fee engagement and the price is shared on the discovery call. The 90-day install is scoped to your business after the diagnostic. Pricing is transparent and tied to outcomes, not hours.
I’m a one-truck operator. Am I too small?
If you’re between roughly $250K and $3M in revenue and ready to grow, you’re the right fit. If you’re below that, we can usually point you to a few free resources that will move the needle more than a consulting engagement right now.
Do I have to be local?
No. Most of the work is remote with weekly working sessions. For some engagements an on-site visit makes sense and can be scoped in.
